Scott’s legal acumen is evident through his “Preeminent” AV-rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest possible distinction. Scott’s professional achievements are further highlighted by his inclusion in the Illinois Super Lawyer list, a distinction reserved for only 5% of the state’s lawyers. This recognition, along with his Leading Lawyer designation for Real Estate Law, underscores his standing as a top-tier attorney in Illinois.

Scott’s practice is notably diverse, encompassing commercial real estate transactions and leasing, land use, general corporate and finance, and homeowners’ association/condo law. Since 2002, Mr. Pointner has been a featured speaker at various real estate, land use, subdivision, platting, and HOA/Condo continuing legal education (CLE) seminars.

After three years of litigation experience in Cook, DuPage, and ten other counties, he joined the firm in 1999 and became a member in 2002. His unwavering dedication has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s legacy. Since becoming a member, he has served Rathje Woodward as its corporate secretary. Scott also enjoys mentoring young lawyers, further demonstrating his dedication to both the future of his profession and his current colleagues.

Outside of his professional life, Scott is actively involved in the DuPage community. He served as General Counsel for the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce for 15 years, and received its Outstanding Leadership Award (2009), Executive Award (2012), President’s Award of Excellence (2017), Chairperson’s Award (2023), and most notably the Brinkman Community Leadership Award (2020) . He also served as the Chair of the Wheaton Leadership Prayer Breakfast for eight years, and currently serves as General Counsel and a Board Member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation, with an endowment of close to $25 million.

In addition, Scott also participates in the Community Associations Institute, DuPage County Bar Association (he received the Board of Directors Distinguished Service Award in 2016), and Illinois State Bar Associations.

His commitment to community service extends beyond his professional affiliations. Scott is studying to become a deacon in the Catholic Church, aspiring to be ordained with the Diaconate Class of 2027 for the Joliet Diocese.

As we salute Scott’s 25-year tenure with the firm, we look forward to continuing our journey together, upholding the standards of service and professionalism he has set. Congratulations, Scott, on this significant career achievement!
